Supply chains are hard to manage. The procurer and the supplier have direct contact, but what about the supplier’s sub suppliers? And suppliers further down the supply chain?

GSL is a tool which...

  • makes the supplier and his/hers sub suppliers more environmentally and socially responsible,
  • allows suppliers to confirm that they are environmentally and socially responsible, and that they follow up the performance of their own suppliers, and
  • helps the procurer improve the performance of supply chains without having to relate to others than regular business contacts.

GSL consists of a simple reporting form which is filled out by the supplier and sent to the procurer. The form works as self-evaluation which confirms that the company has done a mapping of environmental- and social aspects , assessed improvement measures , and initiated similar processes with relevant sub suppliers.

This is how GSL is used

  1. The procurer prioritizes in which procurements the GSL-form shall be used.
  2. A requirement of filling out and handing in the GSL-form is used as a contract requirement, and is a part of the invitation to tenders.
  3. The supplier fills in the GSL-form, sends it to the procurer, and introduces GSL in his/hers own procurement routines.
  4. The GSL-form is reviewed in those meetings with the suppliers where the contract is being followed up.

Guidance for GSL can be found to the right.
